Researchers’ Forum 2026 in Rossland
We’re excited to share that the Researchers’ Forum will take place in Rossland this year! This event travels the Columbia Mountain region to gather members of the scientific community, Indigenous and provincial land managers, stewardship groups, naturalists and community members to provide updates on ecological projects taking place in southeastern British Columbia – the territories of the Sinixt, Secwepemc, Ktunaxa, and Syilx Okanagan people. This is a chance to share and get caught up on everything from new restoration projects and their associated community initiatives, to ecosystem monitoring, research, field trials, and land stewardship initiatives. This gathering has an informal atmosphere where everyone is invited to attend, mix, and mingle!
We are planning for a day of presentations and social events on Thursday Oct 22, including a tapa-style dinner and evening plenary. On Friday, we’ll head out for some field tours in the area. Catering will provided by the adored Flying Steamshovel.
Call for Presentations and Field Trips
For anyone interested in offering a 5, 10 or 15-minute presentation, bringing a poster, or leading a local field trip should submit their proposal(s) by Sept 4, 2026, but please send a note to Hailey right away if you plan to submit – this will be immensely helpful with our planning.
Any ecological project, research, community initiative and stewardship project goes!

Registration
Registration includes a full afternoon of presentations, an evening social with a tapa-style dinner, an evening plenary talk, and the field tours offered on the second day. You have the option of adding a bagged lunch for the field day ($18).
Catering at this event will be provided by the Flying Steamshovel (yum!).
Member, speaker, First Nations: $75
Non-member : $95

There are two venues providing discounted lodging for guests of this event – please phone to make your booking and note that you are with “CMI” or the “Columbia Mountains Ecology” group to get the discount.
